Simple Cards by Cindy

Hello everyone! It's Cindy and I am back to share what I've made using the September kit, Central High and add-on 1, Style Guide.

For the first card, I used American Crafts pattern paper from the main kit and mat it on a cream card base. I punch out three butterflies on a diagonal blue pattern paper by Studio Calico and wrap bakers twine around it twice and finished it off with the "today" tab. For added dimension, I adhere the butterfly panel with foam square.

For my second card, I want it to be clean and simple so I keep embellishments to minimal. I cut out three banners of different sizes and adhere them to the left side of the kraft card base. I wrap bakers twine around it and tied in a bow. I adhere a flair button on the bow and finished off the card with faux stitching.

Lullaby Layout and a Tip by Cindy Lee

Happy Saturday to you! It's Cindy again and I have a layout and a tip to share today. First is a layout I made with the July kit. To create the background, I drew sunburst pattern on Kraft cardstock and fill the negative space with Studio Calico patterned paper. For added dimension, I add faux stitch around the sunburst pattern and letter stickers. The quickest and easiest way to create faux stitch is by using a tracing wheel and I am going to show you exactly how to do it.

To create your own faux stitch, you need a tracing wheel which you can get from sewing store and an ink of your choice. I usually use either black or dark brown.

To ink your tracing wheel, simply roll the wheel in the ink. You may want to do it a couple of times to make sure that the wheel is fully covered in ink.

Then just roll the wheel onto your project as shown. Voila, faux stitch done under one minute :)

Boy Theme Mini Album & Ribbon Tutorial by MK

Hi there, Marina here again with my 3rd Scrappin Studio project. Hope you had a great week, more than half a year is gone and in a matter of months we are closing 2012! Scary how time flies. And scary how fast babies grow too, it feels like only yesterday when my boy was a helpless infant and today he is a demanding toddler! Today I'm sharing a mini album entitled L-U-C-A-S, a tribute to him and this yellow car which he loved. (I say 'loved' because the car has since been replaced by many others and is also, sadly missing a wheel!)

I started by cutting cardstock and papers into 5" x 6" sizes, all are from July's main kit and add on kit: Elmwood Park and Capture the Flag. Then I used remnants of the papers to embellish. The main idea was to spell out L-U-C-A-S so I started with the lettering pages and then decorated behind each with photos etc.

The lettering are achieved by fussy the cutting the letters from this pp:

Basic Grey - PB & J - Thermos

I then used the canvas ribbon (from Capture the Flag kit) as the cover centrepiece....

Below photos are how I decorated each page behind the lettering pages....

Last step - simply punch a hole at the top left corner and use a ring or chain to hold the pages together. Finally here's how the album look like page by page.

Now I'd like to share a simple tutorial on how to make the canvas ribbon bloom. You will need; needle, thread, ribbon with some width, buttons and twine to decorate the centre and some glue dots to adhere the bloom to paper.

• Step 1: Gather the edge of the ribbon into a fan shape, thicker ribbons are easier to work with, this canvas fabric is perfect!
• Step 2: Thread a needle and thread through it section by section till you have enough to become a bloom.
• Step 3: Sew up at the joining section and knot it - this will be the behind.
• Step 4: Flip to the other side and you're almost done - add finishing touches to the centre with buttons or other embellishments.

3 months layout by Cindy Lee

Hello everyone! This is Cindy sharing my first layout on Scrappin Studio Blog. Before I start, I would like to thank Jaime for giving me the opportunity to be in her design team! So without further ado, here's a layout I created using the Studio Calico's July kit "Elmwood Park" and add-on kit "Four Square".

Arrow and negative punch outs/die cuts are so in trend right now that I had to include them on my layout. The arrows were actually cut out from patterned paper by Studio Calico.

Got to love the 9 to 5 banner by October Afternoon and the Indie Chic buttons by My Mind's Eye. I love to add bit and pieces of paper and embellishments to my layout....and lots of white space of course.

Berry Sweet

Hey it's Jessy again signing in for another layout I have created for Scrappin Studio. This time I used the Studio Calico Jan monthly kit called "County Fair". Well CNY & V-day is coming soon and somehow I have already caught the V-bug hence a love-themed layout is created. Lol. I love all the pink and red in this kit. 

For the background, I played with the vertical number stamp and did some light misting. Totally love the chip pie that says "Berry Sweet" :)

Jan Monthly kit: County Fair

I was asked to be excused for the month of December due to my teacher's training for 3 weeks. Hence I was missing from the blog for the whole December. Lol. Jamie asked if I can design for January 2012 and I said YES! I am gonna miss my time here at Scrappin Studio but will cherish the time I have in January :) Thanks Jamie for the opportunity!

So today I'd like to show you what I have created using Jan Studio Calico kit called County Fair. Once again, it is beautiful and really fun to mix and match!! 

This layout is inspired by digital scrapbooking style that I missed alot! I used to do digital scrapbooking but now I am hooked with papers :) Totally adore the wood veneer alpha and of course the vertical number stamp too.

I really hope that you'll sign up for SC kits thru Scrappin Studio because you if you are in Asia, you'll get your kits fast and secondly you will have tons of fun with the kits! Word Tiles

 I love to create "word tiles" to savor that very moment! And for today I would like to show you a word tile I created using chipboad and it is called "MOMENT". These couple of days I have went thru alot of different moments. I experienced, seen, heard, touched... yeah basically in all sorts of dimension!  I do wish to freeze some good moments, well I can't so hence this is what I have created...

 I love this color combinations : Yellow + Grey! And they can be found in the November "Handmade" kit :) Awesome eh?

Create Your Own Stamp

Hey peeps! I’m excited to be here sharing with you a new technique I recently discovered via pinterest. Once I discovered the different type of print, I was immediately drawn to it. Let me show you how I created mine...

For this project, all you need is a block/thick foam/acrylic block (as base), paint and yarn/twine.

Tie a knot at the back of the base.

Randomly wrap the twine to the base into a zig-zag pattern.

Next apply paint and stamp it on your background paper.

Here's the result. Fun eh?

Next, I used the SC Mister Huey to create masking by using leftover foam dots.

Ta daa... here's my completed layout! 

Layout was created using the Studio Calico Nov Handmade kit.

Altered Project : Binder Clip

I have used binder clips to do altered project a while back. Let's say a couple year's back?! Recently while I was cleaning up my creative lab I found quite a number of binder clips! Told myself that my next altered project I will create one with a binder clip and so here's one using the beautiful Studio Calico November "Handmade" kit :)

It's Lovely!!

What a lovely day is today in Malaysia. The sun is shinning & windy too. Well, that is what I can see out from my window :) 

Last week I got the Studio Calico November "Handmade" kit and I love the hint of grey in the kit. I have been falling in love with grey since August! I am super thrilled to see more grey in the main kit. giggles. 

So I am back again to share with you a layout that I have created. It's filled with grey, black and a tiny hint of turquoise!

Weekly Challenge

I adore this this background paper very much. It's a Studio Calico paper and it's collaborated with Sassafrass Lass. This layout was created using the Oct kit: Field Guide.

Altered Sushi Tray

I love any type of wooden products simply because I can alter them!! A couple days back I decided to alter this cute sushi tray that also acted up as a shadow box. Perfect for a special friend who likes butterfly to bits! 

Created this using the Studio Calico Oct "Field Guide" kit :)

Yums...

Hello... my name is Jessy and I am a foodie or also known as food face. lol. I love good food & of course good drink too! When I was in Singapore last month, I got to try this awesome drink called "Koi"... oh snap, it was so yums! The whole drink was filled with pearls (edible ones ok?) and I truly enjoyed it! Pretty similar to bubble tea but it is special in its own way! So this time I decided to document this special-yummy-drink :)
